Sourced from the volcanic island of Fogo known locally in Portuguese as Ilha do Fogo  this rare Typica Natural represents one of the most unique coffee growing origins in Africa. Part of the Atlantic archipelago of Cape Verde (Cabo Verde), the island is defined by its dramatic volcanic landscape, mineral-rich soils, and generations of small-scale mountain agriculture.

Coffee has been cultivated on Fogo for centuries, growing on the fertile slopes surrounding the active volcano Pico do Fogo. The island’s altitude, volcanic terrain, and isolated Atlantic climate create challenging but exceptional growing conditions, producing coffees with deep sweetness, complexity, and a distinctive volcanic character rarely found elsewhere.

This Typica lot is naturally processed and roasted to a medium profile to preserve the unique identity of the origin. The coffee was developed through direct collaboration with local producers, with Carolina from Finca La Holandesa visiting the island to work alongside farmers, supporting knowledge exchange and exploring ways to diversify and refine processing methods while respecting the traditions and heritage of coffee production on Fogo.

The result is a smooth and expressive cup with rich sweetness, layered fruit notes, and a refined structure shaped by the volcanic mountains of Cabo Verde.
